Removing the tonsils of a man who sings for a living is delicate. But allergic rhinitis and chronic tonsillitis were ruining Carey’s voice and health. As he rolled into surgery, I think he was crooning, “Don’t Be Cruel.” I warbled a little “Love Me Tender,” and removed his tonsils. Then we tested for allergies and began a treatment regimen.
