Dr. Ted Benke is on the move. But not just him. His whole medical practice is moving. The medical ENT practice he opened in October 2000 after retiring from the Air Force is now at a new location.
Benke said when he opened his solo practice 10 years ago, he knew he would eventually build his own medical building, and now that its construction is almost complete, heโs excited and relieved.
Weโre excited about the moveโฆand excited the building project is about to come to an end,โ he said. โIโm sure anyone who has built a house or a building knows what Iโm talking about!โ
He said one of the reasons he decided to purchase the land and build his own office was predominantly out of a desire for more of a community presence.
At the hospital, we didnโt have any signage,โ he said. โWhen I would meet people and say Iโm an ENT, often they would say, โWhat? We have an ENT in Cleburne?!โ or โI didnโt know we had an allergy specialist in Cleburne.โโ
So Benke hopes the new building located at 1317 Glenwood Drive, behind Miss Tammyโs All-Stars and Kroger will increase his visibility.
Benke said the new location will have other advantages, too, like two audio booths and an expanded audiology area for conducting hearing assessments and consultations with patients. The new location also gives patients a more relaxing place to wait while their assistive listening devices are being fitted or while our university-trained Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.)ย discusses the patientโs options.
Weโve gone from 2,600 square feet to 4,000 in the new building, which really helps with our audiology services.โ
In addition to the new hearing consultation suite, Benke said they also have a room where they can diagnose the cause of balance or dizziness problemsโanother common reason why patients schedule an appointment with an ENT.
โWe used to have to send patients with dizziness or vertigo to the Metroplex, but now we can provide this valuable testing right here.โ
Benkeโs specialty of ENT or Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery is grouped into four broad areas: General ENT, which involves tonsils and allergies, snoring and sleep apnea and vocal cord problems; Head and Neck surgery, which includes thyroid nodules, neck masses and salivary gland problems; Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, which includes skin cancer removal/reconstruction, nasal reconstruction, and cosmetic surgery; and Otology, which deals with ear problems, including dizziness, and vertigo.
